KAMPF appoints new Head of Technology

Kampf Schneid-und Wickeltechnik GmbH & Co. KG, has appointed Mr. Dr. Stephan Witt as Head of Technology with effect from 1 October 2015.

The 42-year-old graduate engineer has thus assumed responsibility for all the technical departments. The experience he gained in his previous positions as Head of Mechanical Design and Development and as General Manager of a renowned machine tool manufacturer will certainly be of great benefit for his new tasks.

GARMCO signs remelt expansion contract with Fives

GARMCO has awarded a contract worth $47 million to Fives to build a new state of art casthouse at GARMCO’s Bahrain based facilities. 

The Re-melt Project is an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) Turn-Key project, which will enable GARMCO to develop its metal recycling capability and lower the cost of metal casting. Century continues potline operation at Hawesville

Century had previously announced its intent to curtail 100% of its Hawesville operations beginning on October 24th, but now will only reduce its operations to 40% of capacity.

The remaining operations at the Hawesville smelter will primarily produce high-purity aluminium and provide molten metal to local customers. Continued operations at 40% of capacity will be dependent on acceptable commercial conditions, including aluminium prices, product premiums and operating costs.

Global aluminium foil demand to add 1 million tons over next 5 years

Reflecting the healthy outlook for the industry, the Global Aluminium Foil Roller Initiative (GLAFRI) has recently welcomed new foil roller members: Gujarat Foils and Raviraj Foils with operations in India and UACJ Foil based in Japan and Malaysia. The separation will launch two industry-leading, Fortune 500 companies.

The globally competitive Upstream Company will comprise five strong business units that today make up Global Primary Products - Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Casting and Energy. Danieli and Alcoa to license Micromill Technology

Danieli Group and Alcoa announced that they have signed a letter of intent and will work toward an agreement to sell Micromill equipment and license the patented Micromill technology.

As part of the collaboration, Alcoa will grant Danieli exclusive rights to sell Micromill equipment. In addition, the companies will work together to license the Micromill alloys and process technology to potential customers around the world, initially targeting Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia.
