SNC-Lavalin: New contract

SNC-Lavalin has been awarded an engineering services contract by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to provide operations support services to EGA’s two aluminium smelters in the United Arab Emirates – namely Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) and Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL).

SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering packages and manpower services to DUBAL and engineering and project management services to EMAL Engineering to ensure optimal delivery of a portfolio of projects and operations support. The services shall cover all engineering disciplines and project management areas.

Under this new agreement, all engineering work and support services will be executed by our employees in the Middle East and by our aluminium smelting and power specialists in Canada and in the United States. The mandate covers a period of three years, ending in July 2018.

“We have partnered with EGA and its operating subsidiaries for 12 years, having delivered major expansion projects to DUBAL and subsequently the EMAL Smelter Complex in Abu Dhabi (Phases I and II),” said José J. Suárez, President, Mining & Metallurgy.

“We are now extending our partnership and will bring additional value to DUBAL’s energy optimisation projects, where we are replacing existing pots with more energy-efficient ones. Our focus will be on unlocking additional value through our services and delivering quality work with the highest standards in health and safety,” added Etienne Cabanes, Senior Vice-President & Regional Manager, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, Mining & Metallurgy.
