The Aluminum Association Welcomes Three New Member Companies
ARLINGTON, VA – The Aluminum Association is pleased to announce the addition of Penske Logistics, American Roller Bearing, and Tyndale USA as associate member companies.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Penske, Tyndale, and American Roller Bearing as the latest members of the Aluminum Association,” said Garney Scott, President & CEO of Scepter and Aluminum Association chairman. “During a time of significant activity and change for the industry, these members will be important new voices to bring to the table.”
New companies include:
- Penske Logistics: Headquartered in Reading, Pa., Penske Logistics is an award-winning organization known for its expertise and world-class performance in helping market-leading companies optimize their supply chains. Penske’s service offering is robust and includes: dedicated carriage, distribution center management, transportation management, lead logistics, supply chain consulting, and freight brokerage. Penske Logistics has offices and operations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
- American Roller Bearing: American Roller Bearing (ARB) is headquartered in Hickory, North Carolina and has three manufacturing plants in North Carolina along with Engineering facilities. ARB specializes in making Anti-Friction industrial class bearings up to 84” in diameter used in the Aluminum, Steel, Oil and Gas, Mining, Wind Energy, and Aggregate industries as well as many others. They ship bearings both domestically and abroad. Their product line includes ball bearings, cylindrical, spherical and tapered roller bearings in both radial and thrust configurations. American Roller Bearing was founded in 1911 and is proud to remain an American company.
- Tyndale Company: Pipersville, PA is the home to Tyndale Headquarters, Distribution Center and Quality Control Lab. Tyndale is committed to worker safety and provides protective apparel, services and solutions to accomplish this mission. A certified women-owned business, serving over 25 Fortune 500 companies with a focus on quality and industry safety standards, Tyndale successfully meets the needs of workplaces across the utility, oil and gas markets and transportation sectors.
The new member additions come at a time of continued domestic demand growth for aluminum. According to the latest industry data, the North American aluminum industry shipped nearly 26 billion pounds of aluminum in 2015, the most since 2007. Since 2013, member companies have announced domestic plant expansions and planned investment totaling more than $2.3 billion to meet anticipated demand growth for aluminum in the automotive sector as automakers strive to make better-performing and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
However, challenges remain, particularly in the area of Chinese aluminum overcapacity. In April, President Donald Trump signed an executive memorandum initiating an investigation exploring the national security implications of foreign imports of aluminum on U.S. national security, under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. The Aluminum Association also recently filed its first-ever antidumping and countervailing duty case against subsidized Chinese aluminum foil flooding the market. In addition, the association joined the Aluminium Association of Canada and European Aluminium in calling for a global forum to address aluminum overcapacity issues. The Aluminum Association is committed to highlighting unfair and unsustainable Chinese trade practices to ensure the continued health of the entire domestic aluminum value chain.
