New aluminium casting facility

Magna International Inc. has announced it will build a new world-class aluminium casting facility in Telford, United Kingdom, to support Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading vehicle manufacturer.

The new facility is expected to be approximately 225,000 square feet and will create up to 295 jobs at full capacity. Working with the UK Trade & Investment and the Automotive Investment Organisation, along with financial support from the UK Government's Regional Growth Fund, helped to secure this project. Iran smelter MoU

According to reports, National Aluminium Company (Nalco) and Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore the possibility of setting up an aluminium smelter in Iran. 

The signing of the MoU coincides with the visit of prime minister Narendra Modi to Iran.

The new mixed material vehicle construction featured in the Cadillac CT6 represents a first of its kind for General Motors (GM) in North America and China.

First quarter results for aluminium foil deliveries from European suppliers showed positive growth in domestic demand, after a sustained period of mixed or declining results.

Exports, however, remain under pressure due to strong competition from non-European producers. IAI appoints Chair

Hilde Merete Aasheim, Executive Vice President of Hydro's primary metal business, has been appointed Chair of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), at the 89th meeting of its Board of Directors in Shanghai.
